Soldier from Thomson killed in Iraq



THOMSON, Ga. - The brutal attack on two soldiers in downtown Mosul, Iraq, Sunday claimed the life of a soldier from McDuffie County.

Master Sgt. Jerry Wilson, 45, a soldier with the HQ HQ Company 1st of the 502 Infantry, was confirmed as one of the victims Monday, said Army Spokesman Joe Burlas. His unit was based out of Fort Campbell, Ky.

Master Sgt. Wilson joined the Army on June 4, 1976 - right after his graduation from Thomson High School.
