The Columbia County Commission is to be congratulated for its foresight in saving residents of this county a great deal of money by allowing the crematorium to pay for itself. They served well by not allowing an individual from another county and even one from another state to derail the progressive program set forth by Columbia County Animal Care/Control.
County and federal programs often cross over into private sectors. Business people are not pleased but, if they are doing their jobs well, there is no real loss of business. In fact, their business grows from the larger scope of awareness of what is available.
Government programs such as the "gym," transportation, crematorium, camps and lessons in various sports are just a small example of the crossovers. Private enterprises simply will have to offer a better product or service.
I thank the commissioners for keeping their priorities in line with their elected duties - doing what is best for Columbia County.
