AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. William Cordell Scotten, III, 82, of Aiken, died Thursday September 18, 2003 at his residence, under the care of Hitchcock Hospice. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be directed to the Hitchcock Foundation 318 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC 29801. Born in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of the late William C. Scotten, Sr. and Cleta F. Church Scotten. He moved to Aiken in 1952 to work at the Savannah River Site for DuPont. He retired in the early 1980s with over thirty years of service as a chemical engineer. He was a published science fiction writer and a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Aiken. He is survived by his wife Maxine (Frasch) Scotten; two sons, Stephen L. Scotten, Glen Cove, N.Y. and David E.(Donna) Scotten, Aiken; a daughter, Sue Anne Moore, Augusta and seven grandchildren, Hagan Scotten, Patrick (Misty) Servedio, Nicole (Keith) Amerson, Emily Scotten, Jonathan Scotten, Michaela Scotten, and Melanie Scotten and one great-grandson Zachary Amerson Visit www.GeorgeFuneralHomes. com to sign the online condolence register.
