South Carolina tops Morgan State



BALTIMORE -- Reese McCampbell threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as South Carolina State beat Morgan State 27-21 on Saturday.

McCampbell, who went 16-for-35 for 229 yards and two interceptions, connected with Michael King on a 49-yard pass in the fourth to give the Bulldogs (1-2, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a 21-14 lead. Coty Martin, who ran for 155 yards, rushed for the two point conversion.

With 1:27 left, McCampbell ran 1 yard for a touchdown, but the extra point was blocked.

Morgan State (1-2, 0-1) had the game's final score, with a 51-yard touchdown pass from LeJominick Washington to Tommie Manus.

Washington, one of three Bear quarterbacks, went 6-for-25 for 90 yards and one interception. He also had 20 carries for 118 yards rushing.

In the fourth quarter, Morgan State's Albert Gamble scored on a 52-yard fumble recovery to give the Bears a 14-13 lead.

In the first score of the game, the Bulldogs' Tavarus Morgan, who had ten carries for 125 yards, had a 4-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.
