Open house

Three agencies - GAP Ministries (Greater Augusta Presbyterians and Disciples of Christ), Habitat for Humanity and Interfaith Hospitality Network - partnered two years ago to refurbish a downtown Augusta house at 537 Watkins St. They will hold an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The house is divided into two apartments, providing transitional housing for families working on their own home through Habitat. For more information, call 722-6151.

Minister honored

Dr. R.J. Robinson of Augusta will be honored on the 50th anniversary of his first sermon at First Baptist Church, 3500 Walton Way, at 11 a.m. Sunday. Dr. Buckner Fanning of San Antonio, Texas, will give the sermon.

As students at Baylor University in the 1940s, Dr. Robinson and Dr. Fanning were part of the preaching team that kicked off a youth revival across Texas.

Dr. Robinson was pastor of First Baptist between 1953 and '74. He retired after serving churches in Greenwich, Conn., and Tallahassee, Fla., but accepted an assignment from the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to plant churches in Europe for English-speaking worshipers.

Faith workshop

Children's Ministry Magazine's Sue Lennartson of Stillwater, Minn., will lead a workshop on developing faith in children from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1002 Carolina Ave., North Augusta.

Youth rally

Hip-hop artist Knowdaverbs of Nashville, Tenn., Jeremy Carr and The Underground Worship Band will be on hand for the See You at the Pole Pre-rally at 7 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Worship Center, 715 S. Old Belair Road, Grovetown. The event is sponsored by the CSRA Youth Pastors Association.
