Mr. Bill Gibbs Jr. (GREENVILLE, S.C.)



GREENVILLE, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. Wilfred A. "Bill" Gibbs Jr., 89, of Laurel Meadows Parkway, Greenville, who died September 12, 2003, will be conducted Monday morning at 11 a.m., from the Curtis Baptist Church. Dr. Mark E. Harris officiating. Interment in Westover Memorial Park with military honors. Mr. Gibbs was a native of Augusta, a former resident of North Augusta for 55 years, having made Greenville his home for the past year. He was a member of Curtis Baptist Church for 80 years where he was a Deacon and had served as a former Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sunday School Superintendant, Sunday School Teacher and a member of several committees. Mr. Gibbs was the former owner of the W.A. Gibbs and Company Insurance Agency and had retired from the Sherman & Hemstreet Agency. A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he was a former member of the Augusta Rotary Club, a member of The Audubon Society and Gideons International. Survivors include his wife, Eulalie Elliott Gibbs; a son, Dr. Tony Gibbs, Greenville; a daughter, Robin Gibbs of San Clemente, Calif.; five grandchildren, Amber Gibbs, Elliott Gibbs, Tyler Gibbs, Alex Gibbs and Hampton Gibbs. Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Gibbs Sunday School Class. Active pallbearers will be Tim Pritchard, Tommy Shelton, Tom Salley, John Douglas, Myron Warren and Roy Scarborough. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to Curtis Baptist Church, Build A Vision Fund, 1326 Broad Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
