AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Sammie Simpkins, 77, of Chadbourne Street, entered into rest on Friday, July 18, 2003, at University Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 25, 2003, at 1 p.m., from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Edgefield, with Rev. James E. Dukes officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery. Survivors are a loving and devoted wife, Marie Simpkins; four daughters, Mattie (Terry) Judge, Augusta, Jeanette (Wesley) Williams, Belvedere, Mary (Willie) Powell, Augusta and Rosa (Dion) Blocker, Columbia; four sons, John Simpkins, James Simpkins, Sammie Simpkins Jr., and Thomas (Julia) Simpkins, all of Augusta; one sister, Endia Yeldell, Edgefield; a host of grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
