Who: Augusta Rugby Club
What: The club was founded in 1973 by Medical College of Georgia Students and is now in its 30th year. The Augusta club has teams for men and women.
When: Teams practice year-round every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9 p.m. The club's 15-person teams compete in two main seasons (fall and spring), while seven-person teams practice and compete in tournaments during the summer months.
Where: Richmond Academy football practice field, Walton Way.
Why: Ask a rugger, and they'll tell you the camaraderie is what makes rugby great. Augusta teams travel together around the Southeast for league and tournament play. Despite the rough-and-tumble nature of the game, rugby players say injuries are rare, save for the usual bumps and bruises.
How: Contact the Augusta Rugby Club at www.augustarugby.org, or simply show up ready to play Tuesday or Thursday nights.
