Former judge charged with shoplifting

MACON, Ga. -- A grand jury indicted a former municipal judge Tuesday on charges he shoplifted sacks of shrimp, sushi and other groceries at a local supermarket.

Ben Willis, 42, resigned from his seat on the bench two days after he was identified in a police report as the man caught trying to steal $86.14 worth of groceries from Kroger.

Kroger officials declined to prosecute the case, but made Willis sign a criminal trespass order banning him from every Kroger in Georgia.
