Mr. Bobby Fogle (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Bobby Ray Fogle, devoted husband, father, PaPa, and friend, returned home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, May 26, 2003. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nell, a son and daughter in law, David and Colleen Fogle; a daughter and son in law, Nancy and Bill "Sport" West, and four grandchildren who loved their PaPa, Amy, Tim, Jessie, and Amber (all from Augusta). He is also survived by his mother, Mamie Lou Martin of Augusta, and a sister, Betty Bolen Porter of Columbia. Bobby Ray, as he was known by many of the peoples lives that he touched, was born on November 18, 1929 in Columbia. He was raised in Williston. He graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the University of South Carolina in 1951, and in September 21st of that year, married Nellie Ruth Sanders. In 1957, he and Nell moved to Augusta, and opened the Delta Drug Store on Central Avenue, which he owned until 1970. He also worked at a number of pharmacies throughout the Augusta area, most recently at Duncans Drugs on Peach Orchard Road. He also served for 13 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve. His goal in life was to be of service to others. He was a long time member and deacon of Curtis Baptist Church, and was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Adult 5 Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Curtis Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Harris and Rev. Sherrell Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at Thomas Poteet and Son. Burial will be in Williston. Pallbearers will be Richard McKinney, Thomas Shelton, Duncan Fordham, Bobby Bennett, George Hawkins and Buddy Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult 5 Sunday School Class and Deacons of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Build a Vision", care of Curtis Baptist Church, 1326 Broad Street, Augusta, GA 30901, and to St. Joseph Hospital Hospice, at 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA. 30904.
