Mr. Kenneth Varney (THOMSON, Ga.)



THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Kenneth "Ken" W. Varney, 58, of Southlake Drive entered into rest on May 14, 2003 at University Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Alice P. Varney, and son of the late Woodrow Varney and Lillie Belle Smith Varney. Survivors include his wife, Alice P. Varney, Thomson; one daughter, Laura V. Green, Evans; and three granddaughters, Clair Green, Olivia Green, and Lucy Green, all of Evans. Mr. Varney was born in Darlington, S.C. and lived there until coming to Thomson in 1971. He was the owner of Value Homes and Creel Homes. He had been in the manufactured housing business since 1971. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and received the Outstanding Young Man of America Award in 1980. Graveside services will be on Friday, May 16, 2003 at 4 p.m. at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brian Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be Benji Cranford, Larry Weatherford, Andy Blair, Danny Edwards, Ralph Scurry and Dewayne Cowins.
