Correction
Residents living in the neighborhoods near Richmond County's jail on Phinizy Road were originally told the facility would house only female prisoners and nonviolent male prisoners. A story in Wednesday's editions of The Augusta Chronicle did not clearly state that distinction.
The Chronicle regrets the error.
