LEXINGTON, Ky. - Augusta scored three runs in the final three innings to beat Lexington 4-1 on Thursday night at Applebee's Park.
Matt Cooper and Addison Bowman each had big nights for the GreenJackets (15-24), who won three of four in the series against Lexington. Cooper had two hits with a run scored, and Bowman went 3-for-4 - including a triple - and scored on a double by Jason Bryan in the seventh inning.
Cooper walked and scored on Jeff Ontiveros' home run to left field.
Augusta starter Luis Mendoza (1-1) held Lexington to four hits and one run in six innings. Relievers Brandon Smith and Carlos Morla combined to allow two hits in the final three innings.
Fernando Nieve allowed seven hits and two runs in seven innings in the loss.
Augusta will begin a four-game series at 7:05 tonight at Charleston (W.Va.).
