Mr. Bryan Beard Sr. (AIKEN, S.C.)



AIKEN, S.C. - Entered into rest on Friday, March 28, 2003, Mr. Bryan Spencer Beard Sr., 76, husband of Mrs. Mignon Puckett Beard of Kismet Drive, Aiken. Other survivors include his daughter, Aletha Beard of Graniteville; a son, Bryan Spencer Beard Jr., of Aiken and three brothers, Wayne Beard, Langley, Roland Beard, North Augusta and Dr. Stanford Beard, Blues Creek, N.C. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Beard. Mr. Beard was born in Burnettown, and was the son of the late Sailor and Lillian McCracken Beard. He was retired from E.I. Dupont and Westinghouse as a chemist after 42 years. He was a member of the South Carolina Archaeological Society and was named South Carolina Archaeologist of the year in 1986. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Baptist Senior Mens and the Aiken Senior Mens Golf Clubs. He was a former Deacon of Millbrook Baptist Church. He was a member of Matlock Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and training union teacher. He was a Giddeon. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m., in Matlock Baptist Church with Dr. W. James Rivers and Rev. W.L. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be George Brown, Bobby Thomas, David Weathersbee, Mike Andrews, Dr. Bill Webb and Don Webb. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Matlock Baptist Church, Hwy. 980 Main Street, Jackson, SC 29831 or to the Luther Rice Seminary, 3038 Evans Mill Road, Lithonia GA 30038.
