Mrs. Mary Bonds (NEW ELLENTON, S.C.)



NEW ELLENTON, S.C. - Mrs. Mary Evelyn Heath Bonds, 91, of New Ellenton and Fleming Island, Fla. passed away peacefully at Community Hospital of Northeast Florida on March 27, 2003 after a brief illness. During her last years of her life, she lived in Fleming Island, Fla. where she was cared for by her daughter and son-in-law. She is predeceased by her husband, Edgar Bonds, sisters Ruth Heath Ridgeway and Harriet Heath, and brothers Louie and Haskel Heath. She leaves behind her daughter, Judith B. Rock; her son-in-law, Greg Rock; grandchildren, Richard, Amber Patterson Sinclair and Mary Alexandra Rock; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Holley, Brianna Holley and Preston Sinclair. A native of Aiken, she devoted her life to the terminal love, care and comfort of her mother and husband. Mary, also known to many as Evie, was the last surviving founding member of Corinth Baptist Church. She faithfully served as church secretary/treasurer, pianist, and was instrumental in planning and carrying out all church functions during the late 1950s. She loved her family, took great pride in her home, and was able to drive and maintain her household in New Ellenton until shortly before her death. Flowers may be sent in care of Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Road, Aiken, or contributions may be made in Mrs. Bonds name to the Corinth Baptist Church building fund. She will be greatly missed by all family and friends, and now resides with our Heavenly Father. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at Corinth Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Road, Aiken.
