Mrs. Lora Simpson (ABBEVILLE, S.C.)



ABBEVILLE, S.C. - Lora Ray Simpson, 69, of Hwy. 184 E., wife of Dr. Rayford "Ray" Simpson, died March 27, 2003, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood. Born in Hart County, June 19, 1934, to the late Thomas and Ressie Spearman Ray, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Gracewood and recently served at Northside Baptist Church, Calhoun Falls, attended Abbeville Public Schools and studied Pre-School Education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She was founder and director of the First Academy, Augusta and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Surviving are her husband of the home; three daughters, Phyllis Ann Moxley, Lisa Ellen Driggers and her husband, Ronnie and Wendy Michele Stack and her husband, Jerry all of Augusta; two brothers, Donald Ray of Abbeville and Kenneth Ray of Riverdale; three sisters, Kathleen Wallen of Ashville, N.C., Rucella Cochran of Abbeville and Grace Balchin of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Northside Baptist Church in Calhoun Falls conducted by Dr. John Parker and Dr. Ken Gaskin. Burial will follow in Upper Long Cane Cemetery. The body is at Harris Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m., Sunday where the family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
