Mrs. Betty Poston (AIKEN, S.C.)

AIKEN, S.C. - Mrs. Betty E. Poston, 69, of Crawford Avenue, Aiken, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 28, 2003 at 1 p.m., at Town Creek Baptist Church with Revs Donald Pope, Danny Burelson and Dr. Ken Carvalho officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Augusta. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the residence of her sister, Bootsie Carroll, 2022 Clark St., Augusta, and also from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday at Town Creek Baptist Church. She was born in Augusta, a daughter of the late Claude and Nettie Amons Johnson, Sr. Mrs. Poston had lived in Aiken since 1961 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher. Survivors include her husband, Harry O. Poston, Sr.; three sons, Harry O. Poston, Jr., Taylors, Richard L. Poston, and Larry R. Poston, both of Aiken; two daughters, Terry Ann Sanchez, Atlanta, Beth Amanda Phillips, Aiken; three brothers, Fred Johnson and Preston Johnson, both of Augusta, Billy Gene Johnson, Martinez; three sisters, Emma Howell, Atlanta, Bootsie Carroll and Birdie Youngblood, both of Augusta, 13 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Pallbearers will be Bob Siders, Andrew Siders, Cliff Kirkland, Tippy Kirkland, James Hornsby, Ricky Jackson and Gary Youngblood. Memorials may be made to Town Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
