AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Salvador Garza, age 78, beloved husband of Mrs. OIlie M. Garza, entered into rest March 15, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Augusta. Mr. Garza served his country as a member of the US Army Airborne Division during WWII, receiving the bronze star, and the WWII Victory Ribbon, he also served in the Korean and Viet Nam, conflicts. He was also a recipient of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Medal with oak leaf cluster. He successfully completed the military training course in Military Justice. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion, The VFW and The Disabled Members of the American Legion. A Catholic Prayer service will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2003, from Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel with the Rev. John Lyons officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Survivors include four daughters, Maria Booth of Paradise, Calif., Sara Moore of Anchorage, Alaska, Cathy Holley of Stapleton and Kayleigh Porter of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Johnny Garza of Carlsbad, Calif. and Greg Garza also of Calif.; one sister, Trinidad Garza of Brownsville, Texas; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Association, 326 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
