AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, March 17, 2003 at the residence, Mr. George B. Cunningham Jr. of Augusta, GA. Family members include his sons, Robert B. Cunningham and wife Dorothy, Christopher A. Cunningham and wife Drew; sister, Virginia C. Dilascia; grandchildren, Stacy Shanna Cunningham, Cash Evan Cunningham and Lindsey Taylor Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham was a native of Augusta. He graduated from Academy of Richmond County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees in WWII. He was the manager of Lily Tulip Company Cafeteria for 19 years. He founded Wife Saver Restaurants in 1965. He was a member and Past President of Augusta Toastmasters; a member and Past Master of Social Lodge #1, Free and Accepted Masons; a member and past president of the Richmond County Property Owners Association and on the Board of Directors of the National Restaurant Association. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 3003 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. C.W. Edwards Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be John P. Smith, Travers Paine, David Dukes, Oliver Vincent, Randy Harrison and Marc Carpenter. Meet at Thomas Poteet by 2:30 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be the owners and operators of Wife Saver Restaurants. The family will receive friends today, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Poteet and Son.
