Mrs. Ellie Poole (STAPLETON, Ga.)



STAPLETON, Ga. - Mrs. Ellie Irene McGahee Poole, age 71, of Purvis School Road departed this life on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Seaman, Terry Addis and Billy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Poole will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Poole was a native of Warren County GA, and a retired supervisor with Thomson Company, a member of the Wrens Church of God, and the McGahee Sisters Gospel Group, which sang on WTWA for over 50 years. She enjoyed teaching the Word of God and filling in as a pianist at numerous churches. She was a former member and teacher of Sunday School at Mt Beulah Baptist Church for many years, And she served weekly at Mt. Aldred AME Church in a prayer group. Survivors include her husband, O. B. Poole, Blythe and Stapleton GA; her mother Mrs. Mary Will McGahee, Stapleton GA; two stepdaughters, Barbara Newton, Blythe, and Jane Meeks, Nashville, TN; four sisters Mary McGahee, Stapleton, Lucille Davis, Warrenton, Eva McGahee, Murrayville GA and Cornelia Wells, Martinez GA; 8 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren and 8 step great great grandchildren;2 nephews, Steve Davis, Warrenton and Jeff Davis, Gibson; a great niece Serena Davis and a great nephew Josh Davis. Pallbearers will be Jeff Davis, Steve Davis, Michael McGahee, Dairen Cato, James McGahee, and Leon Cato.
