LaFAYETTE, Ga. -- Two Walker County correction officers have been arrested and charged with engaging in sexual activity with female inmates.
Kevin Williams, 25, was charged with four counts of sodomy involving two female inmates, and Vance Hinch, 24, was charged with one count of sodomy.
"I am shocked, hurt and disappointed," Sheriff Steve Wilson said Wednesday, adding that both have been fired from their jobs.
The incidents occurred late at night in a medical room, out of view of an officer in an observation tower, Wilson said. "They were taking them to the med room under the pretense that they were giving them medicine."
A Georgia Bureau of Investigation report said the sex acts were consensual.
The officers were released on their own recognizance and were scheduled to appear for arraignment May 16.
