Mrs. Pearl Olson (SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.)



SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - Pearl Brooks Olson, 95, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Penick Village. Mrs. Olson was a very active member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Charlotte. She was a strong leader of the church and the first female to serve on the church vestry. She helped found the Memorial Gardens at the church and it was her dream. Mrs. Olson started the St. Andrews prayer group. She was Chapter Chairman and President of the Episcopal Church Women and was a delegate to the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina several times. Mrs. Olson strongly supported the Young Peoples Group, especially the baseball team. She was active in the Altar Guild and held practically all volunteer offices. Memorial Services will be conducted Sunday, March 9, 2003 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Charlotte, N.C. at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the church Memorial Gardens. Surviving her are two sons, Herbert P. Olson of North Augusta, S.C. and Robert L. Olson of Clinton, Tenn.; and one grandson, Preston R. Olson of Newberry, S.C.
