Eagles blank Jacksonville



STATESBORO, Ga. -- Dennis Dove struck out 10 batters and gave up just one hit in seven shutout innings Tuesday in Georgia Southern's 6-0 victory over Jacksonville.

James Payne picked up a career-high four hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Eagles (7-3). Matt Hammond had two hits, including his first home run of the season.

Dove (2-0) extended his scoreless streak to 13 innings. He yielded a two-out single to Clint Hart in the fifth and walked one.

In addition to Hart's single, Jacksonville (3-6) got hits from Brett Nagy and Rob Hudson, who extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Ryan Courson (0-2) surrendered six hits and six runs in 3 1/3 innings.
