Mrs. Elizabeth Blizzard (BLYTHE, Ga.)

BLYTHE, Ga. - Mrs. Elizabeth Coleman Blizzard, 86, of Hwy 88, Blythe, entered into rest Sunday, February 23, 2003, at Jennings Health Care, Augusta. Mrs. Blizzard was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Neal Blizzard, August of 1968. The family stated that "Granny" Blizzard was everyones friend. Mrs. Blizzard was born December 13, 1916 in Emanuel County, the daughter of Charlie and Lonie Hadden Coleman, she had lived in the Blythe and Hephzibah area since 1955. Mrs. Blizzard was a homemaker and member of the Faith Baptist Church. She was the beloved mother of nine children; four sons, Christopher Charles Blizzard, Blythe, James "Jimmy" Blizzard Sr., Irmo, Henry N. Blizzard, LaPlata, Md., and David P. Blizzard, Townsville, S.C.; five daughters, Ora E. Newsome, J. Fay Axon and Phebe Blizzard, all of Hephzibah, Mary Ann Dubose, Belvedere, and Betty Ruth Koon, North Augusta. Additional survivors include one sister, Elma Morris of Baxley and one brother, C. B. Coleman, Ware Shoals; 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at 3 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Hephzibah Chapel with Rev. Albert Halford officiating. Interment will be at Hephzibah Vance Cemetery, Hephzibah. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, February 25, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. The family will gather at the home of Fay Axon, 1049 McCall Street, Hephzibah.
