COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Matt Campbell held Duquesne hitless into the eighth inning as South Carolina beat the Dukes 9-0 on Sunday.
Campbell (1-0) allowed only two base runners in eight innings and a third-inning walk, besides giving up a single to left field that was hit by Steve Maiolo. Campbell struck out nine for the Gamecocks (8-1), while Adam Haun (0-1) took the loss.
The Dukes (0-3) put in three pitchers, who walked seven, threw five wild pitches, hit a batter and committed a balk.
Trey McDaniel hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning to make it 7-0.
