Auto racing

  • Saturday, March 8-Sunday, March 9: The Carolina Dragway presents the International Hot Rod Association Pro-Am Tour. All sportsman classes - top dragster, top sportsman, super stock, stock, quick rod, super rod and hot rod - will be racing. Qualifying begins Saturday evening, with eliminations Sunday afternoon.   • Monday, March 24-Saturday, April 5: Registration for The Family Y's coed youth baseball program for children 4 to 11 years old is scheduled at Wheeler Branch. Registration hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Games begin in May. Program levels include T-Ball School, T-Ball, Machine Pitch I and II.   • The Cobb Cup, a team handball event sponsored by the Georgia Games, will be held in Cobb County on Saturday, May 3-Sunday, May 4.   • The Family Y will sponsor an in-line hockey clinic Saturday, March 1, at Abilene Baptist Church's parking lot at 3917 Washington Road. The clinics are free and open to boys and girls ages 4-12. Personal equipment is encouraged. Clinics are held on a first-come-first-served basis and are limited to 30 children per age group (9-10 a.m., ages 4-6); (10-11 a.m., ages 7-9); and (11 a.m.-noon, ages 10-12).   • Registration for The Family Y new youth In-line Hockey League and Hockey School programs will be held until Wednesday, March 5, at the Marshall Branch. B League is composed of beginner-average players and BB League includes average-above average players. Games are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-10 p.m. League play begins Monday, April 14, in the Wilson Branch gymnasium. Family Y membership is required.
