MACON, Ga. -- Eric Patterson, Brandon Boggs, and Jeremy Slayden each drove in two runs Wednesday to lead Georgia Tech to a 9-1 win over Mercer.
Jason Neighborgall (1-0) pitched three shutout innings, followed by Kyle Schmidt, Andrew Kown, and Nick Wagner. Combined they gave up seven hits.
The Yellow Jackets (3-0) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first with Boggs' two-run homer off Adam Bowling (1-2). They added three runs in the fourth, one in the sixth, two in the seventh, and one in the eighth to make it 9-0.
Mercer (5-7) broke up the shutout with an RBI groundout by Kyle Johnston in the bottom of the eighth.
