ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Thrashers placed goatenders Byron Dafoe and Pasi Nurminen on injured reserve Tuesday and recalled Milan Hnilicka from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
Dafoe, 31, strained his groin during pregame warmups before Monday night's 4-3 overtime victory over Buffalo. MRI results expected Wednesday will determine how long Dafoe will be out.
Nurminen, 27, who has been the Thrashers' No. 1 goalie with 13 wins in 37 games, strained his groin in a 6-2 loss to Detroit on Saturday and could be out two weeks.
Hnilicka has been recalled from Chicago three times this season. The 29-year-old goaltender is 1-9-0 with a 4.11 goals-against average and an .833 save percentage in 13 games with Atlanta this season. He is 4-0-1 with a 1.95 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage during his last five AHL games.
