STATESBORO, Ga. -- Wayne Bernard scored 20 points, including four of his team's 14 3-pointers, as Davidson beat Georgia Southern 85-76 Tuesday night.
Georgia Southern (13-11 overall, 6-7 Southern Conference) jumped to a 6-0 lead, but Davidson (15-8, 9-4) pulled ahead with a 14-2 run capped by Brendan Winters' basket with 14:11 left in the first period.
The Wildcats hit five 3-pointers in the last six minutes of the half and outscored the Eagles 18-9 during that span to lead 49-37 at halftime.
A 3-pointer by Conor Grace extended Davidson's lead to 59-42 with 17:09 to play. Terry Williams, who led the Eagles with 22 points, hit consecutive 3-pointers to cut the margin to 11, but Georgia State could get no closer until the Eagles had an eight-point run to close the game.
Winters scored 18 for Davidson. Jean Francois scored 18 for Georgia Southern.
