New on video and DVD: Sweet Home Alabama, starring Reese Witherspoon as a New York fashion designer trying to escape her rural Alabama past; Formula 51, with Samuel L. Jackson as a master chemist who finds himself in a big mess when he tries to make a quick buck with his new drug; and Igby Goes Down, about a boy (Kieran Culkin) trying to cope with his unusual upbringing while struggling to grow up.

New CDs in stores today include the soundtrack to the sure-to-be blockbuster Daredevil with Ben Affleck; and 10 a re-release of the L.L. Cool J album with a bonus track -- the hit All I Have, feat. J. Lo.

Register now to audition for the Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's annual talent showcase. New in theaters today: Shanghai Knights, with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson as adventurers in 19th century London; How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, a romantic comedy with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey; and Deliver Us From Eva, starring Gabrielle Union as a straight-talking sister who meddles in the relationships of her brothers.

The Columbia band Burns Out Bright performs with The Januaries and Last Call at 9 p.m. at the Capri, 302 Eighth St. Tickets for the all-ages show are $5.

SATURDAY

Live music will continue at 9 tonight at the Capri. Tonight's performers include Monroe Brown, Diesect and another special guest. Tickets are $5.

It's not the real thing, but it's close. The Dave Matthews Cover Band will perform with Gunnison at 9 p.m. at Atlanta's Variety Playhouse. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.

SUNDAY

An Empty Bowl Buffet Luncheon, to benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank, will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Augusta Jewish Community Center, 898 Weinberger Way, Evans. Eat your choice of soup in a custom clay bowl made by school children, bread and dessert for $15. The $35 family ticket includes two bowls and buffet.
