Mrs. Ozella Swan (EVANS, Ga.)

EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Ozella Sawyer Bass Swan passed away suddenly after a brief illness Sunday, February 2, 2003, in Canton. She was 80 years old and was the wife of the late Mr. Ernest L. Swan. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. this Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Rev. Dr. Timothy Owings and Rev. Jake Malone officiating. Survivors include a son, Jerry W. Bass, North Augusta; a daughter, Jane Moxley, Augusta; six brothers, Bob Sawyer, Cochran, Jim Sawyer, Screven, William L. Sawyer, Cochran, Tom Sawyer, Cochran, Glenn Sawyer, Cochran and Lyndon Sawyer, Cochran; five sisters, Opal Giddens, Cochran, Estelle Yearty, Cochran, Pansy Loudermilk, Columbus, Florine Johnson, Gloverville and Madge Dykes, Cochran; five grandchildren, Jay Bass, Jill Paul, JanJee Hitt, Kim Redmond, Kathy Welch, and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Swan was a native of Eastman and had made Augusta her home for the past 44 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta where she served as president of the Womans Missionary Group. She was a member of the Anna Banister Sunday School Class and was a vital member of the Christmon Tree committee. Mrs. Swan was an active member of the Flower Study Club of Augusta. She was a resident of Brandon Wilde where she was very active member of the several committees and volunteered weekly in the reception area. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909 or to Big Stevens Creek Baptist Church, 1850 Martintown Road, North Augusta, SC 29860.
