Mr. Hugh Jones Sr. (HEPHZIBAH, Ga.)



HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. Hugh "Boots" Gordon Jones Sr., 76, of Del Rio Road entered into rest Sunday, February 2, 2003 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Mr. Jones a native of Dekalb County, he had resided in Hephzibah since 1974. Mr. Jones was retired Gunnery Sgt. in which he served 20 years, serving in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam, also retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta after 21 years. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church, Waynesboro Masonic Lodge #274 and was a former member of the Burke County Sheriffs Posse. Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his parents the late Mr. Fred G. Jones and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Webb Jones, by seven brothers and two sisters. He was a very dedicated and loving father, grandfather and friend. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro with the Rev. Roy White officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors Accorded. Survivors include his wife Della M. Jones, Hephzibah; four sons Hugh Gordon Jones Jr., Harlem; David Paul Jones, Grovetown; George Ronald Beckworth, Dearing; Kenneth Wesley Jones, Wrens; one daughter Sandra Dean Boone, Hephzibah; two brothers Hilliard Jones, Rock Hill, Ga.; Ned Jones, Conyers; twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Today, Tuesday, February 4, 2003 from 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of his daughter Sandra Dean Boone 521 Del Rio Drive Hephzibah, Ga. 30815. Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge #274, Waynesboro, Ga.
