HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Ms. Willie Mae Copeland made her transition Tuesday, January 28, 2003. A native of Augusta and a 1963 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. In 1966 she married Michael Copeland from their union are Lucy and Tanya. "Willie" or "Willamae" was a longtime resident of Jersey City, N.J. A graduate of Jersey City State College and Bank Street Teachers College, Mrs. Copeland had a diverse professional career, but was always a life long educator, entrepreneur and advocate who dedicated herself to helping others to live their best lives. A member of St. Michaels Good Shepherd on Fort Gordon and served as an Eucharistic minister. Survivors include daughters, Aisha (Yves) Legarff, Charysy T. (Mark) Copeland Evans; mother, Eunnie (Willie) Jennings; sisters, Francis Williams, Lillie Mae Moody, Sarah Grant, Linda Bell, Crystal Williams, Alice Stanley; brothers, Leroy Williams, Alphonzia Williams, Ephriam Williams Jr., Richard Williams, Ronald Williams, Andrew Williams and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at St. Michael Good Shepherd Chapel on Fort Gordon, with Rev. George Foster, officiating.
