Mr. Mark Myers (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - M r. Mark Myers, 49, of Augusta, beloved husband of Mrs. Patti Abasolo Myers, died at his residence Saturday, February 1, 2003 after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Good Sheperd on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Fain, Dr. Andrew Menger, and the Rev. Steph Britt officiating. Additional survivors include one daughter, Arwen Elizabeth Myers of Augusta, one brother, Neill Ernest Myers of Beaver, Okla.; two sisters, Glenda Kaye Sipes of Manter, Kan.; Patricia Ann Bowling of Temple, Texas, several nieces and nephews; and several grand nieces and nephews. Mr. Mark Myers grew up in the Oklahoma Panhandle and attended college and graduate school in Texas, where he received degrees in music. He was a Classical Tenor who sang a number of roles in Regional Opera in both the United States and in Europe, where he was engaged by the Landes Theater Linz in Linz, Austria. In 1988 he moved with his family to Augusta, and was owner of Vogue Cleaners of Aiken for a number of years. He continued to perform locally as a Tenor Soloist for such organizations as The Augusta Choral Society and The Augusta State University Opera Theater. He was also a teacher of voice, and was longtime member of the adult choir at the Church of Good Sheperd. Mr. Myers was Tenor Soloist during the Good Sheperd Choirs Residence at Westminster Abbey in London in 1997.
