LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Augusta Lynx let another close game get away from them as the Lexington Men O'War scored three times in the third period for a 6-4 victory at Rupp Arena on Sunday night.
The Lynx had fought back from a two-goal first period deficit to tie the game in the second period. Josh St. Louis had two of Augusta's three second period goals, both to tie the score.
Then the Lynx collapsed again.
After Mike Legg's 10th goal of the season tied the score - once again - at 4-4, the Men O'War tallied twice in under two minutes to seal the game.
The scoring barrage in the third was touched off by Lexington's Mike Sgroi. His goal was the first of four in just under four minutes.
Van Burgess and Daryl Moor gave Lexington the early lead with goals at the beginning and end of the first period, respectively.
Lexington's Dan Murphy picked up the win in net by stopping 25 Lynx shots. Colin Zulianello stopped 33 shots for Augusta.
The Lynx were outshot 39-29, including a 14-7 disadvantage in the final period.
