FLORENCE, S.C. - Ben Butler's 3-point shooting paced Augusta State to a 64-62 Peach Belt Conference victory over Francis Marion on Saturday.
Butler hit five 3-pointers, including the game-winner with 55 seconds left that gave Augusta State a 63-60 lead. Teammate Jermale Wilkerson added the final point, hitting a free throw with 0.6 seconds left.
Butler led the Jaguars with 15 points. David Siebrands added 13 and Chris Harriman had 10 points and six assists.
The North division-leading Jaguars improved to 7-2 in the conference, 11-6 overall. Francis Marion is 8-8 and 3-6.
In the opening game, the Augusta State women beat Francis Marion 73-61 as Sabrina Jones had a game-high 18 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Melanie Massey added 15 points for Augusta State.
The Lady Jaguars, who also lead the North division, are 7-2 in conference play and 12-4 overall. Francis Marion is 7-10 and 2-7.
Augusta State had a 38-28 rebounding edge in the game. Ernesia Wideman had seven rebounds to lead the way.
