Baseball

  • Today: The Dawgs travel team will hold tryouts at 1 p.m. at Harlem City Park. Players need to be in sixth through eighth grade who do not turn 14 before Aug. 1, 2003. For more information, call Gary Webb at (706) 556-2662.

  • Basketball

  • Boxing

  • Friday-Saturday: 2003 East Coast Silver Gloves Championships at May Park Gym. Boys and girls ages 10-15 will be competing to attend the National Silver Gloves Boxing Championships. For more information, call 733-7533.
  • Disc golf

  • Saturday, Jan. 25: The annual Disc Golf Ice Bowl will be held at Lake Olmstead Disc Golf Course. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 9:30 a.m. at the Julian Smith Barbeque Pit.   • Fencing

  • The Augusta Fencers Club has started two classes in beginning foil fencing taught by Dr. Rudy Volkmann. A youth class for 11- to 14-year-olds will meet from 6-7 p.m. Fridays; and an adult class will meet from 6-7 p.m. Thursdays. Cost is $50. For more information, call 722-8878.
  • Flag football

  • The Family Y's Flag Football program for children ages 5-12 will hold registration until Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Southside Branch. Registration is Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.; and fees are $25 for Family Y Metro Members, $30 for Branch Members and $35 for Bronze Members. The eight-week session will be March 17-May 10.   • Soccer

  • Monday-Saturday, Jan. 18: The Family Y on Wheeler Road will hold spring registration for boys and girls 4-14 years old. Levels include: soccer school, 8 and under, 10- to 14-under, or challenge (10- to 12-under). Fees vary according to age and membership levels.   • Tennis

  • Registration for the USA team tennis spring junior league begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at Petersburg Racquet Club. Players who do not sign up for a team can register as an individual and will be placed on a team. The league will run Sunday, Jan. 26, through March, at 2 p.m. Sundays. The age groups are 10-under, 12-under, 14-under and 14-over. The cost is $12 for the league fee and $13 for USTA membership.
