SYLVANIA, Ga. - Ms. Ruby Oglesby Powell, age 89, died Saturday, at Syl-View Health Care Center in Sylvania. She was preceded in death by son, Paul Lester Powell Jr. The Emanual County native was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clearwater, and a retired Textile Mill Worker. Ms. Powell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Roan and Mary Alice Powell of Cochran; her brother, James Oglesby of Midville; five grandchildren, Nickey T. Powell of Augusta, Dean H. Powell and Gene G. Powell of Greenwood, Sissy P. Winters and Tammie P. Lewis of Sylvania; 11 grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ms. Powell will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Thompson- Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Forrester officiating. Burial will be in the Deep Creek Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jenkins County. Active pallbearers will be Nickey Powell, Dean Powell, Jerry Winters, Kris Lewis, Gene Powell , Michael Oglesby.
