AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dr. Steve Kolas, age 78, entered into rest at University Hospital, Thursday, January 2, 2003. The Trisagion services will be held at the chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair Street on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at 7 p.m. with Father Cyril Garrett officiating. He will be sent to Lakewood, Ohio for additional services and burial. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Anastasia Kolas, Fairview Park and Lylia Kolas, Worcester, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews survive Dr. Kolas. Dr. Kolas moved to Augusta in 1969 as the founder of the Oral Pathology Department of the Dental School at the Medical College of Georgia. Prior to moving to Augusta in 1969, he worked at Ohio State University as a professor of Oral Pathology. Dr. Kolas was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity Building Fund, 953 Telfair Street, Augusta, Ga. 30901.
