APPLING, Ga. - Mr. Alonza "Homer" Garnett of Petersburg Road, Appling, died Monday, December 30, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Canaan of Galilee Baptist Church, Appling with Rev. Robert Felton officiating. Burial will be in Second Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Appling. He was a native of Columbia County, a member of Canaan of Galilee Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, he was a Vietnam veteran. Survivors are one sister, Fannie McGruder, Appling; two brothers, Robert Garnett, Appling, Warren Garnett, Clarks Hill, S.C.; one stepson, Horace Curry, Appling; and a host of other relatives and friends. The remains will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Family and friends will assemble at 3770 Burns Road, Appling, Georgia at 1:30 p.m. Williams Funeral Home, 1765 Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd.
