NEW ORLEANS -- Baron Davis had 16 points and 11 assists as the New Orleans Hornets remained unbeaten at home with a 106-94 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.
David Wesley and Jamal Mashburn each added 16 as seven Hornets, including all five starters, scored in double figures. New Orleans is 9-0 at home.
Jason Terry scored 17, including three 3-pointers and had nine assists for the Hawks, who wilted in the second half and now have given up 100-plus points in five straight games, four of them losses.
Glenn Robinson and Shareef Abdur-Rahim each scored 15 for Atlanta, while Dion Glover added 13 and Darvin Ham 12. Abdur-Rahim was held to only two points in the second half, however.
Courtney Alexander added 14, including two 3-pointers, for New Orleans, which shot 5-for-9 from 3-point range.
New Orleans outscored Atlanta 22-2 during one stretch in the second half and led 94-72 after an Alexander jumper with 9:35 left. The Hawks then went on an 18-6 run but could get closer than 10 points.
Wesley's first of two 3-pointers capped a 15-0 run that put New Orleans up 65-55 midway through the third period. The Hawks turned the ball over six times during the spurt, which included two dunks and a fast-break layup by Davis. Wesley also had a fast-break layup and P.J Brown a dunk en route to his 11 points.
New Orleans also outrebounded Atlanta 11-5 for the third quarter, a key turnaround from the first half.
The Hawks outrebounded New Orleans 21-9 in the first half to take a 51-46 lead. The Hawks scored 16 points on possessions where they had missed their initial shot. Robinson never missed in the half but took only three shots from the floor and two free throws for eight points.
Jamaal Magloire led the Hornets in the first half with 12 points on strong moves to the basket and several jump hooks, but he picked up his fourth foul midway through the third quarter and had to sit out the rest of the period. He was replaced by Elden Campbell, playing in his third game of the season after recovering from a strained left knee. He had 13 points.
Magloire did not score again.
Notes: Campbell reached 10,001 points for his 12-year career on a layup in the final minute. ... Terry has hit 17-straight free throws. ... Theo Ratliff returned to Atlanta's starting lineup after missing a game Tuesday with the flu. He shot only 1-for-5 for two points and missed both free throws he took. ... Davis did not go to the foul line once and has taken only five free throws in the last seven games.
