AIKEN, S.C. - Mrs. Eleanor Jean Byrd, age 66, of Red Circle, died Sunday, November 24, 2002. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2002, at Old Storm Branch Baptist Church in Clearwater. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Byrd was a native of Bath and the daughter of the late Tilton and Lillie Mae Holley. She was a school teacher for 22 years and was much loved by her students. She was a member of Old Storm Branch Baptist Church. She was a very giving and dear mother. Her family and friends always enjoyed her fun-loving personality. She is survived by two sons, James Rice Jr. (Marilyn), of New Ellenton and Tilton Byrd, Aiken; one daughter, Patsy Croft (Frank) of Aiken; one stepdaughter, Mona Hughes (Johnnie) of Lawton, Okla.; eight grandchildren; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host of nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. Friends may call at the residence or Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 2 p.m. Thursday, November 28, 2002. The remains will lie in state at the church Friday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home, Aiken, S.C.
