TORONTO -- Paul Tracy will join Patrick Carpentier on the Player's racing team for the 2003 CART season.
The two Canadian drivers have agreed to two-year deals but only the first is with Player's - the second is with team chief Gerald Forsythe. Player's must give up sponsorship of the team after the 2003 season under federal anti-tobacco legislation.
"I'm looking forward to working with Pat, we've been good friends for a while," Tracy said at a news conference Tuesday. "I think both of our styles complement each other and I think that's going to create good harmony on the team."
Carpentier, who finished third in the CART standings this season, earned two wins this season and has three overall. Tracy has 19 career wins, including a victory last season in Milwaukee.
Player's has released driver Alex Tagliani, although he is still under contract with the team for another year. He is looking for another ride.
