Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Augusta Deliverance Evangelistic Church with Pastor Roy Myles officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden with full military honors. Survivors are his wife, Janis N. Gilchrist; son, Dominique Gilchrist, Conyers; mother, Loretta Gilchrist, Augusta; father, John Gilchrist III, Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Regina Roundtree, Ft. Riley, Kan.,Monique Smith, Augusta; grandfather, John D. (Dorothy) Gilchrist, Augusta; step grandmother, Jessie Murdock, Los Angeles, Calif.; uncles, Michael Gilchrist, Melvin Gilchrist, Augusta, Girard Murdock, Elk Grove, Calif., Gregory Tutt, Houston, Texas; aunts, Judy Collier, Latonya Rushing, Augusta, Lorinda Lane, Inglewood, Calif., Pamela Pickett, Paula Jackson, Atlanta; great-aunts, Marianna Grady, N.Y., Bernice Gibson, Charlotte, N.C.; nieces; nephews and cousins; mother-in-law, Janice Johnson; father-in-law, John Whigham.
