AUGUSTA, Ga. - George Curtis Shaw, 62, beloved husband of Gay Shaw went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 16, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2002, from Curtis Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Curtis Baptist Church and Truck Drivers from Boral Brick Company. Mr. Shaw is survived by his wife, Gay Shaw of Augusta; son and daughter-in-law Curt and Paula Shaw of Simpsonville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Emory Dixon of Buford, Carolyn and Tommy Gross of Augusta. Additional survivors are his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and George Wells, brother and sister-in-law, Colin and Nelle Shaw; seven grandchildren, Tyler Gross, Larkin Shaw, Andrew Shaw, Taylor Dixon, Colt Gross, Ashley Dixon, Chandler Gross. Mr. Shaw was a Christian man and an active member of Curtis Baptist Church for over 30 years. He served on the Deacon Board, Finance Committee and various other duties over the years. In addition he was a sign language interpreter and Sunday School teacher for the deaf for a number of years. He also proudly served in the U.S. Marines and was an employee for Boral Brick, formerly known as Merry Bros. Brick for 42 years. Most of all he was a faithful and loving husband for 40 years, a wonderful father, grandfather and brother. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home, West Chapel, 3686 Wheeler Road, Augusta.
