COLUMBUS - The Augusta Lynx picked up their second road win in as many days as they manhandled the Columbus Cottonmouths 7-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Patrick Yetman scored two second period goals, including one shorthanded, as the Lynx scored three times after the Cottonmouths had cut the lead to 2-1.
Jeff Szwez scored the first two goals for Augusta as the Lynx jumped out to the early lead. Szwez's first goal came just 1:08 into the game.
In the second period, Columbus' John Morlang cut the deficit in half on a power-play goal, before Yetman pushed the cushion back to two with an even-strength tally. Brent Gauvreau picked up a power-play goal, which was followed by Yetman's second goal just 2:15 after Gauvreau's score.
Columbus stormed back, scoring the next two goals to trim the lead to 5-3, but scores by Ryan Lauzon and Josh St. Louis gave the Lynx more than they needed.
The teams combined for 52 penalty minutes, including a 10-minute misconduct penalty by Columbus' Mike Lee midway through the second period. The teams were assessed 16 penalties in the final two periods.
Yetman added an assist to finish with three points and Sergei Kuznetsov and Jay Leach each picked up two assists.
