AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Nicholas Anthony Gavalas, age 88, entered into rest Tuesday, November 12, 2002, beloved husband of Louise Jordan Paul Gavalas. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 2002, at 11 a.m., at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, with Father George Vaporis and Father Cyril Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, The Reverend, Dr. Anthony Gavalas, Union, S.C. and Joseph L. Gavalas, Atlanta; two daughter, Vikena G. Thigpen, Mitchell, Nikki G. Nance, North Augusta; three stepdaughters, Barbara Jo Roland, Grovetown, Harriett L. Jones, Augusta and O. Ruth James, Hephzibah; one brother, Bill A. Gavalas, Augusta and one sister,, Anastasia Gavalas, Athens, Greece; 20 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his previous wife, Louise Fulcher Gavalas. Pallbearers will be Victor E. Gavalas, Nicholas G. Gavalas, Michael J. Gavalas, George A. Gavalas, Nick A. Gavalas and Morgan C. Jones II. Honorary pallbearers will be W. Matt Roland II, Kevin Ray Roland, Jason V. James and J. Ron James Jr. Memorials may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 953 Telfair Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
