FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The NFL has rescinded the $5,000 fine on Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick for showing too much red undersocks and not enough white oversocks in a game against New Orleans on Oct. 27.
The league let Vick off with a warning Wednesday.
The league also decided to return its $2,500 fine of Vick for throwing a ball into the stands against New Orleans after he scored a touchdown and reduced that to a warning.
Vick had appealed both fines after the league disciplined him last week.
Such fines are common for uniform violations, ranging from untucked jerseys to unlicensed apparel.
Atlanta wide receiver Shawn Jefferson also was fined $5,000 in the New Orleans game for wearing black shoes instead of white. Teams must designate their color before the season, and the Falcons chose white. Jefferson has been wearing black shoes covered with white tape.
