ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Alma K. Hardeman, age 86, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2002, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born January 6, 1916 in Augusta, the daughter of James and Savanna (Evans) Caldwell. In 1958, she married Mr. Hardeman and he preceded her in death. Alma was a faithful member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor for many years, a member of Fannie J. Coppin Womens Missionary Society and a member of Trustee Helpers Club. She was also a member of the Ann Arbor Womens Federation Club. Survivors include one sister, Glennie Daniels of Georgia; a special nephew, Stanley (Jackie) Clanton of Georgia; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her adopted son, Luther Nesbit; two sisters, Jenny Caldwell and Adeline Clanton and one brother, Spencer Caldwell. The funeral service was 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at Bethel AME Church, 900 John A. Woods Drive, Ann Arbor, where the family hour was from 10 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Alfred E. Johnson officiated. Burial will be in Clanton Cemetery in Augusta on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. Peoples Funeral Home.
