Man gets 15-year sentence for crime

A man observed molesting a little boy in a public parking lot in broad daylight received a 15-year prison sentence Monday.

"Thank God for witnesses and that she (Debra Quinn) didn't just turn her head and drive off," Assistant District Attorney Bobby Christine said.

Although the child testified last month that Warren E. Milan was only tickling him Feb. 12, Ms. Quinn told a Richmond County Superior Court jury that she was positive Mr. Milan was fondling the protesting child.

On Monday, Judge Carl C. Brown Jr. sentenced Mr. Milan to 15 years in prison, followed by five years on probation. After his release, he must register as a sex offender, Mr. Christine said.

Ms. Quinn testified she was in her vehicle at Augusta Exchange shopping center in west Augusta the afternoon of Feb. 12 when she saw Mr. Milan with the 4-year-old boy. She used her cellular phone to call 911.

The jury convicted Mr. Milan of child molestation.

Mr. Milan also is wanted in McDougal, Ark., where a child molestation charge is pending. Mr. Christine said authorities in McDougal have been in contact and indicate they will prosecute Mr. Milan as soon as possible.

The alleged victim in that case, a girl, testified during Mr. Milan's trial in Augusta last month. Police questioned her after a neighbor saw Mr. Milan with the girl in August. The girl, now 15, told police that Mr. Milan had been molesting her since she was 6 or 7 years old.
